The narrator continues: "Jon took on the Obama Administration to delist wolves, saying that's 'what's right for Montana.' Voted for the Keystone Pipeline to 'create jobs and energy security.' And voted 'in favor of a balanced budget amendment.' Jon Tester: Doing what's right for Montana. Always."
The week-long statewide television ad buy titled "Always" will cost $90,000 and is the latest in a series of smaller ad buys by Tester's campaign.
Tester's campaign said in a press release that the ad is in response to money pouring in to the race from special interest groups.
"The spot answers the question of why corporate special interests like Karl Rove's secretive Crossroads GPS and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce are spending millions on TV ads in Montana on behalf of Congressman Dennis Rehberg," the Tester campaign stated.
Tester is in a heated battle to defend his seat from his GOP opponent Rep. Denny Rehberg.
Tester defeated incumbent Sen. Conrad Burns in the 2006 election, edging out the three-term Republican by less than 4,000 votes. Two of the top non-partisan political handicappers, the Cook Political Report and the Rothenberg Political Report, both rate the Tester-Rehberg race a toss up.
Rehberg's campaign called the ad "misleading," responding to the claims with a "Reality Check," which challenges Tester's touted achievements like the Keystone Pipeline and voting against Wall Street and links Obama and Tester together.
"Since Obama took office and Tester began rubber-stamping his liberal, tax-and-spend policies 95% of the time, Montana's unemployment rate has risen from 5.3% to 6.3%, and the state has lost construction and manufacturing jobs. Meanwhile, each individual Montanan's share of the national debt has risen by 50%, from $34,000 to over $51,000," said the Rehberg campaign in a press release.
