Romney pauses for Sikh temple shooting victims

Romney pauses for Sikh temple shooting victims 9 hours ago politicalmugshotCNN Political Unit (CNN) – At the start of a campaign event Tuesday, Mitt Romney held a moment of silence for victims of the Sikh temple shooting in Wisconsin earlier in the week.

"The tragedy is even more profound because the Sikh religion and the Sikh people are such peaceable, loving individuals," the presumptive GOP presidential nominee said.

A gunman shot six people to death and wounded three others during a rampage at the Sikh temple outside of Milwaukee on Sunday.

Romney's comments came prior to a speech at Acme Industries in Elk Grove Village Illinois.

"I think it is also more tragic because the shooter was apparently someone who was motivated by hate – hate based on race, hate based on religion. For all those reasons this is something which touches us very deeply," Romney said. "In our moment of silence I certainly pray that God might rest the souls of those who lost their lives and comfort those that mourn."
