Pawlenty talks cabinet… small 'c'

Pawlenty talks cabinet… small 'c' 12 hours ago CNN's Chris Welch Waterford, Michigan (CNN) - Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, a man rumored to be on presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney's short list for vice president, toured a woodworking factory today as he stumped for the former governor.

Pawlenty shook hands and met with Accurate Woodworking's owners in Waterford, Michigan, in the company's showroom-filled with examples of the cabinets they produce.

During a small press conference immediately following, reporters couldn't resist the urge –given the locale– to ask about a potential cabinet position in a Romney administration.

"That's pretty lame" was Pawlenty's initial reaction to the pun. But as to the crux of the question, Pawlenty stayed on script.

"We're focused on trying to convey Gov. Romney's message and the campaign. It would be presumptuous and premature for people to be talking about positions down the road."

"I'm just happy to help him as a volunteer," he added, mentioning he's "happy" to be in the private sector currently. "So beyond that I don't have any plans."

Pawlenty finishes a two day Michigan trip Thursday evening. He heads to New Hampshire Friday.

Expect to see him on Sunday morning talk shows, he said, where he will presumably be pressed yet again on his prospects for a vice presidential selection.
